Man City Crumble as Feyenoord Stage Stunning Comeback
Manchester City’s struggles continued last night, Tuesday 26 November, as they surrendered a commanding 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Feyenoord in a dramatic Champions League clash at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England.
Despite a brace from midfielder Erling Haaland and a deflected Ilkay Gundogan volley putting Pep Guardiola’s men firmly in control, a late capitulation saw the Dutch visitors snatch a remarkable point.
Feyenoord forward, Anis Hadj Moussa, capitalised on a mistake by Josko Gvardiol to spark the comeback in the 74th minute. His teammate, Santiago Giménez, equalised shortly after, chesting the ball in from close range, before David Hancko headed home Feyenoord’s dramatic leveller in the closing minutes.
Man City’s defensive frailties were once again exposed, with goalkeeper Ederson and key players unable to steady the ship. The result extends City’s winless run to six matches across all competitions, leaving them 15th in the Champions League standings and at risk of an early exit.
Guardiola admitted his side’s inability to handle pressure and described the draw as “difficult to swallow.” With a critical English Premier League clash against Liverpool looming on Sunday, 1 December, the pressure on the reigning champions to reverse their fortunes has never been greater.
